About Us

Lake Tahoe Travel

Lake Tahoe Travel encourages travelers to take their time to enjoy the beautiful scenery and depth of experiences Lake Tahoe provides, while traveling sustainably and helping to minimize the human impact on the destination. With a backdrop of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Lake Tahoe is one of the world’s purest lakes and the largest alpine lake in North America. Spanning two states, California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is a year-round destination with hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails, dozens of beaches, water and snow sports, ski and snowboarding resorts, and plenty of unique places to stay.

Who We Are

Lake Tahoe Travel is a cooperative partnership of two Destination Management Organizations: North Tahoe Community Alliance and Travel North Tahoe Nevada, encompassing both the California and Nevada sides of the region.

Together, we work to share the stories of our 12 unique communities and the North Lake Tahoe region, stretching from Emerald Bay
on the West shore to Spooner Summit on the east shore.

Why It Matters to the Community

Tourism is the driving force of the North Lake Tahoe community and economy. It fuels local businesses, supports thousands of jobs, and helps fund the services and stewardship efforts that keep our community thriving. By promoting responsible travel, we ensure Tahoe remains a place where both residents and visitors can enjoy the vibrant culture and natural wonder of the region. What We Care About

Our focus is on providing a place for human connectivity, as well as educating visitors and promoting responsible tourism to protect these natural spaces for generations to come. Protecting and preserving the beauty of North Lake Tahoe is a collective responsibility that requires the work of visitors and locals alike. While an effort like this requires all of us, it’s the power of individuals coming together that makes our work to conserve this mountain paradise greater than the sum of its parts.
