Mission and History of Achieve Tahoe
- Founded: Jim Winthers started the group in 1967 to help wounded veterans learn how to ski.
- First Chapter: It is the founding chapter of Move United, which supports adaptive sports across the country.
- Goal: The programs help build health, confidence, and independence.
Programs and Activities
- Winter Sports: The group offers private adaptive ski and snowboard lessons at Alpine Meadows, Palisades Tahoe, and Northstar California.
- Summer and Year-Round Sports: Athletes can try water skiing, sailing, kayaking, climbing, and cycling.
- Equipment and Staff: Trained volunteers and certified instructors use specialized adaptive gear to match each person’s needs.
