Business Updates:
- Minglewood Opens in Tahoe City: Husband-and-wife duo Alex and Amanda Looby (owners of Christy Hill and the Sandbar) have opened Minglewood, a new breakfast and lunch café with a community focus in the former Syd’s Bagelry space. Just steps from the lake, the café serves a thoughtful menu of locally sourced dishes, fresh-roasted coffee, and a growing selection of beer and wine, with future plans for evening programming and live music.

Tune into Sierra Soundwaves Podcast: Produced by North Lake Tahoe photographer, writer, and producer Ryan Salm, Sierra Soundwaves takes listeners inside the region’s dynamic live music scene with exclusive artist interviews, behind-the-scenes stories, and updates on upcoming shows and festivals.

Gift and Gather at Tahoe Gifting Co.: Tahoe Gifting Co. offers custom gifting experiences for weddings, corporate events, and milestone occasions, featuring goods from small businesses in Lake Tahoe and beyond. Personalized in-house and packaged with eco-friendly materials, the brand is also preparing to open a new event and workshop space called The Cut to host community gatherings.

Fall Concert Season at Crystal Bay Casino: Crystal Bay Casino’s Crown Room offers a diverse fall lineup of live music, from high-energy tribute shows to celebrated singer-songwriters. Standout performances include Brett Dennen (Sep 19), ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro (Oct 4), and country star Margo Price with Dillon Warnek (Nov 9), promising something for every music fan this season.

Tahoe City Farmers Market (Aug 21–December 18): Enjoy fresh, locally grown produce and artisan goods every Thursday at Commons Beach through October 30, and Boatworks Mall November 6 through December 18 (excluding Thanksgiving Day).

Tunes on Taps Concert Series at Alibi Ale Works (Sep 4, 11, 18): Alibi Ale Works in Incline Village closes out its free Thursday night outdoor concert series with JeNes N The Juice, Tahoe Tribe, and Dirty Cello.

Guitar Strings vs. Chicken Wings (Sep 5): Six local restaurants and six bands compete for “Best Wings” and “Best Band,” with guests voting to determine the winners. All proceeds benefit the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science.

Community Movie Night at Tunnel Creek Café (Sep 17): Celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with an outdoor community screening at Tunnel Creek Café.

Oktoberfest – Village at Palisades Tahoe (Sep 27): Enjoy a full day of Bavarian-themed fun in The Village, featuring German beer and cuisine, live music and dance, OktoberGames, and family-friendly treats.

Locals Day at Tahoe Via Ferrata (Sep 28): Alpenglow Expeditions is offering Lake Tahoe locals the chance to climb the Tahoe Via Ferrata with professional guides at a discounted rate, with all participants donating $25 to Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue. Applications are open through September 5.

Tahoe Literary Festival (Oct 10–11): The Tahoe City festival celebrates the region’s literary community with author panels, readings, workshops, open mic sessions, a short story and poetry contest, and kid-friendly storytelling events.

Made in Tahoe Festival (Oct 11–12): Celebrate Tahoe talent with a weekend marketplace of local artisans, chefs, musicians, and makers at Palisades Tahoe.

Downtown Trick-or-Treat (Oct 31): Families are invited to trick-or-treat safely with local businesses in Downtown Tahoe City, with TCPUD hosting a booth at Heritage Plaza from 4 to 6pm. Kids can also join the “Huntin’ for Pumpkins” activity for a chance to win prizes.

Creeper’s Ball at Crystal Bay Casino ft. Poor Man’s Whiskey + After Party (Oct 31): Celebrate Halloween at Crystal Bay Casino with Northern California’s high-energy outlaw bluegrass band performing their “Dark Side of the Moonshine” tribute, followed by a free after party with Tracorum.

Annual Cross-Country & Backcountry Ski Swap (Nov 8): Tahoe XC hosts its annual ski swap to benefit TCCSEA youth programs, offering gear for beginners and seasoned enthusiasts while supporting outdoor education and cross-country skiing.

11th Annual Tahoe Film Fest (Dec 4–7): Featuring environmental films, American independents, Latin American cinema, and music documentaries, this annual festival benefits UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center, with tickets on sale November 3.
Parks and Recreation Updates

Tahoe Backcountry Community Radio Launches: Tahoe’s backcountry users now have a shared communication tool with the launch of standardized FRS radio channels, allowing skiers and riders to share avalanche conditions, coordinate routes, and avoid congestion on popular terrain. Modeled after successful programs in Telluride and Snoqualmie Pass and spearheaded locally by longtime skier Jamie Morgan, the initiative builds community connection while enhancing real-time safety in Tahoe’s winter backcountry.

Emerald Bay Shuttle Launches: A new shuttle service, operating daily from July 15 to October 15, offers a safe, convenient, and eco-friendly way to access Emerald Bay. Round-trip fares are $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 13, and advanced booking is encouraged.

Ride TART This Fall: Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transportation (TART) makes it easy for locals and visitors to get around with reliable mainline bus service across the region, plus TART Connect’s curb-to-curb, on-demand rides.
